Pu-erh – the Legendary Tea

Between China, Vietnam, Myanmar, Northern India, and Nepal lies a land framed by the southern seas and the snowy peaks of the Himalayas. In this region — in the southwest of China — sits Yunnan Province, the ancient homeland of tea trees.

The history of Pu-erh tea spans anywhere from 600 to 3,000 years, depending on the source. During the Tang Dynasty (7th–9th centuries), Pu-erh was already being exported. Tea leaves were brought for processing to Pu’er Fu, a town 373 km south of Kunming, which gave the tea its name.

For centuries, mountain villagers in Yunnan harvested a unique type of large-leaf tea, which they sun-dried to create mao cha (crude tea). The leaves were then steamed and pressed into compact cakes or nests for easier storage and transport.

During long caravan journeys, the tea was occasionally sprinkled with water to prevent drying out — this slow, cool fermentation along the route gave rise to the distinctive flavor and aroma of aged Pu-erh.

Shu Pu-erh (ripe Pu-erh) appeared later — in the 1970s, during China’s economic revival. The method of accelerated fermentation was invented by tea technologist Wu Qi Ying at the Kunming Tea Factory. Known as the “Mother of Modern Tea,” she led the factory until 2005, and her work is honored in the National Tea Museum in Hangzhou.

Pu-erh Tuo Cha offers a velvety, bready, and sweet-woody flavor with light balsamic tones — smooth, full-bodied, and free of bitterness or acidity. The dark brown infusion is thick and rich, made from tea leaves aged for three to five years.

Pressed into small nest shapes, Tuo Cha is convenient to take on the go — to work, on trips, or outdoors. Pu-erh harmonizes with the body’s natural balance: it can be calming or energizing, depending on one’s state. Like ginseng or maté, it restores equilibrium and vitality.

Delivery times

• Orders placed before 18:00 will be delivered on the same day (only in Dubai).
• Orders placed after 18:00 will be delivered the next day.
• Delivery to other Emirates is carried out the next day after the order is confirmed.

Change of delivery address

• We can change the delivery address before dispatch.

Damaged parcels

• If the goods are damaged during delivery, refuse the parcel and contact us.
• If you have already accepted the order, contact customer service for further action.

Return of goods due to changed mind / did not fit

We accept returns if the request is submitted within 3 days of receiving the order.

• The goods must be in the original packaging, unused and in a saleable condition.
• Returns are at the customer's expense - the buyer will arrange for delivery.
• After receiving and checking the goods, the amount will be refunded in a convenient form for the buyer.
• Shipping costs are non-refundable.

Return of goods under warranty (defect or damage)

If the goods are defective or damaged, we will accept a return within 90 days of receiving the order.

• The customer pays for the delivery of the returned goods, but we will compensate this amount if the warranty case is confirmed. It is important to properly store the goods.
• It takes up to 7 business days after receiving the goods to process the return.
• You can choose:
  - Refund to the payment method.
  - Exchange for a similar product (subject to availability in stock).

Important information about returns

• Returns are possible within 3 calendar days from the date of receipt of the goods.
• Returns are only possible for products purchased directly from Cantata, through the online store or a retail store.
• The product must be packed in its original packaging with a full set of accessories and documents.

How to arrange a return

1. Contact us by phone at +971 52 922 7955 (Monday - Saturday, 9:00 - 18:00 GTZ).
2. Send the product back. Shipping is at the customer's expense.
3. Once the goods are received and checked, we will process the return within 7 working days and provide a refund or credit balance.
