Our Own Roastery in Belgium
Every coffee on our shelves in Dubai starts in the same place: our roastery in Belgium, This is where green coffee is checked, roasted in slow batches and packed before it travels to our boutique in Al Barsha 1 and to homes across the UAE. Having our roastery within the family lets us follow each coffee from the green bean to the bag you open at home, and share its story with you.

From Green Coffee to Your Cup
Here is the path every Cantata coffee follows before it reaches your cup.
- Choosing the green coffee We start with raw, unroasted beans. Each lot is chosen for its origin, its grade and the flavor it can bring to the cup.
- Three quality checks Every lot is checked in its country of origin, again at our trade partner in the Port of Antwerp, and a third time when it arrives at the roastery. Each check looks for visual defects and the right moisture level.
- Roasting in Belgium The beans are roasted slowly. The roaster guides the roast curve by hand and checks roast color on every production run.
- Testing and packing The quality Lab tests shelf life and traces production steps at random. The coffee is then packed in bags with a strong oxygen and light barrier, flushed with gas to protect its aroma.
- Cantata in Dubai The coffee arrives at Cantata, where we grind each order for your brewing method just before it ships, pack it by hand and deliver it across the UAE and the GCC.

About Our Roastery in Belgium
Cantata group. Its roasting knowledge goes back to a small family business founded in Antwerp in 1907. Today it is where the group roasts its coffee, develops new products and runs its quality testing. It also produces private label coffee for partners in more than 30 countries.
Where is it?
The roastery is in Kruibeke, a short drive south of Antwerp in the Flemish region of Belgium.
How is Our Roastery in Belgium connected with Cantata?
Cantata and our roastery in Belgium are two parts of one group. When we say "our own roastery", we mean it literally. The people who roast Cantata coffee and the people who serve it in Dubai work for the same group. Why does this matter to you? A shop that buys from an unrelated roaster can only pass on what it is told. Because we have our own roastery, we know where each lot came from, how it was checked and how it was roasted. When our team recommends a coffee in the boutique, that knowledge comes with it. It also means consistency. Recipes and roast profiles stay with the people who developed them, so the Ethiopia you enjoyed last season should taste the way you remember when you come back for more.
How We Select Coffee
Good roasting cannot fix a poor green bean, so selection comes first. We look at each lot from several angles.
Origin. Our single origin range covers more than twenty producing countries, from Ethiopia and Kenya to Panama, Peru and Papua New Guinea, as well as island coffees such as Hawaii Kona, Saint Helena and Jamaica Blue Mountain. Where we can, we name the region or farm, such as Sidamo and Guji in Ethiopia or Finca Monte Christo in Honduras.
Grade. Green coffee is sorted by bean size and defects. Kenya AA, for example, is the top size grade for Kenyan coffee. Our specialty coffee range is made up of coffees that score 80 points or more on the Specialty Coffee Association scale.
Variety and processing. How a coffee is grown and processed shapes its flavor as much as where it comes from. A washed coffee usually tastes cleaner and brighter, while a natural often brings more fruit and body.
Cup profile. Before a coffee joins the range, it is tasted and scored by the team. We look for a clear, clean profile that matches its origin.
Certification. Selected coffees carry organic (BIO) certification and are labelled as such on the product page. We do not describe the whole range as organic, because it is not.
Our Roastery also pays farmers premiums in return for its strict quality requirements. That extra income helps growers invest in better harvesting, which in turn protects the quality we ask for.

How We Roast
Roasting is where a green bean becomes the coffee you taste.
At our roastery It happens slowly and in batches, with a roaster watching every stage. The roast curve is guided by hand, and roast color is checked on every run, so a bag bought in March tastes like one bought in October.
Each origin gets a profile that suits it. A washed Ethiopian is kept lighter to protect its floral notes. A coffee from Sumatra or Bali is taken further to build the body those islands are known for. Our specialty coffees are medium roasted, which keeps the character of the origin while working well in an espresso machine, a V60 or a French press.
Blends are built for balance that holds all year. Espresso Major, for example, combines Arabica from Brazil and El Salvador with Robusta from Vietnam and India for body and crema. You will find the full range under espresso coffee blends.
Our flavored coffee is made at the same roastery. Straight after roasting, while the beans are still warm and porous, a food-grade, oil-based aroma is applied in a rotating centrifuge so it settles into the bean rather than sitting on the surface. The range contains no sugar and no artificial additives, and it is Halal certified.
Every coffee leaves the roastery in packaging with a strong oxygen and light barrier, flushed with gas to keep the aroma in.
Why Belgium?
Belgium is where our roasting knowledge was built, and it is where every part of our coffee operation sits close together. The reasons are practical.
- Roasting experience: Our roasting story began in Antwerp in 1907. More than a century of recipes, roast profiles and trained roasters stays with today.
- Access to green coffee: Antwerp is one of Europe's main ports for green coffee. Our lots are checked at our trade partner in the port before they reach the roastery, so any problem is caught early.
- Quality control on site: Roasting, the Quality Lab and packing all take place at the same site, under IFS manufacturing standards.
- Room to develop: Our roastery is also the group's research and development center, so new roast profiles and blends are developed and tested where they will be roasted.
- Sourcing and roasting connected: Because selection and roasting sit within one group, decisions about a coffee are made with both the green bean and the final roast in mind.
None of this makes Belgium the only good place to roast coffee. It is simply where our experience, our port access and our quality systems come together, and that is what you taste in Belgian roasted coffee from Cantata.

From Belgium to Dubai
Once roasted and packed, the coffee is shipped from Belgium to Cantata in Dubai. From there, our Dubai team takes over. At our boutique in Al Barsha 1 you can smell the beans before you choose, ask our consultants to brew a sample and have your coffee ground for your brewer while you wait.
Online, cantata.ae carries the same range of specialty coffee beans in Dubai. Every order is ground individually just before it ships, and you can choose whole beans or a grind for V60, espresso machine, French press, Moka pot or Turkish coffee. Orders placed in Dubai before 2 PM arrive the same day. Other emirates receive next-day delivery on orders placed before 1 PM, and delivery is free on orders over AED 200. We also ship to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. Full details are in our Delivery Policy.
When your coffee arrives, keep it in an airtight, opaque container away from heat and light. Dubai's heat and humidity work against fresh coffee, which is why we offer tea and coffee storage boxes sized for everyday use.
This is what makes Cantata a place for specialty coffee in Dubai with a direct connection to its own European roastery. The beans you buy here stay in the care of one group, from green lot to finished bag.
