Single Origin Coffee Beans in Dubai
Single origin coffee is coffee that comes from one place and tastes like it. No blending, no rounding off the edges. What the farm, the altitude and the processing method put into the bean is what ends up in your cup. Cantata carries one of the widest single origin selections in the UAE, spanning more than twenty producing countries from Ethiopia and Kenya through Panama, Peru and Papua New Guinea, and reaching into island lots such as Hawaii Kona, Puerto Rico and Jamaica Blue Mountain.
Every lot is roasted for us by CoffeeRoots in Belgium, in small batches calibrated to the origin rather than to a house profile. A washed Ethiopian is roasted light enough to keep its florals intact. A Sumatran or Bali lot is taken further to bring out the body it is known for. That is the difference between a roaster who treats origin as a marketing label and one who treats it as a brief.
Africa: the origins to start with
African coffees are where single origin makes the most immediate sense to a first-time drinker, because the difference from a supermarket blend is unmistakable in the first sip.
Ethiopia Irgasheffe Gedeo Coffee is the classic reference point for the region: floral on the nose, tea-like in the body, with citrus acidity that stays bright as the cup cools. Ethiopia Shakiso Bio Coffee is the certified organic option from the Guji zone, a little denser and more stone-fruit driven. Ethiopia Sidamo sits between the two, with red berry and citrus notes typical of the Sidamo highlands.
Further south, Zimbabwe Specialty Coffee is the outlier worth trying: dark chocolate and blackcurrant with a lemon lift that is unusual for a coffee this heavy. Kenyan and Ugandan lots rotate through the catalogue seasonally.
Latin America: balance, chocolate and structure
If you drink coffee with milk, or you want something that will not fight your espresso machine, Latin America is the safer starting point.
Panama Boquete Specialty Coffee is grown between 1,400 and 1,600 metres in volcanic soil and delivers dark chocolate, nuts and a mild spice finish. Peru Organic Specialty Coffee is the value pick of the range, clean and nutty with gentle sweetness, and it holds up well as a daily espresso. Puerto Rico Specialty Coffee is a medium-roast Caribbean Arabica and one of the rarer lots we stock. Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Colombia and Brazil are all represented in the filter panel.
Asia-Pacific and the island lots
Indonesia Bali Kintamani GR1 carries the earthy, syrupy weight that Indonesian coffee is known for, with a citrus note from the region’s wet-hulled processing. Hawai Kona Specialty Coffee is the smooth, low-acid, buttery cup that has kept Kona on gift lists for a century. Nepal Himalaya, Papua New Guinea, India and Saint Helena appear in the range as well, alongside Jamaica Blue Mountain for those who want the most collected name in coffee.
Choosing a grind for your brewer
Every single origin in the catalogue is sold whole bean or ground to order, in 50g, 100g and 250g sizes. Whole bean is always the better choice if you own a grinder, since ground coffee loses its aromatic compounds within days. If you do not, select the grind that matches your equipment at checkout.
| Brewing method | Grind to select | Origins that suit it |
|---|---|---|
| V60 and pour-over | Ground for V60 | Ethiopian and Kenyan lots, washed and light |
| Espresso machine | Ground for Espresso Machine | Panama, Peru, Brazil, Indonesian lots |
| French press | Ground for French Press | Indonesian, Zimbabwe, darker roasts |
| Moka pot | Ground For Moka Pot | Latin American medium roasts |
| Turkish coffee | Ground for Turkish Coffee | Ethiopian naturals, Yemeni-style profiles |
If pour-over is your main method, the dedicated V60 coffee selection narrows the range to the lots that perform best in a cone.
The 50g size exists for a reason
Single origin buying is an exploration, and paying for 250g of something you might not enjoy discourages exploration. The 50g size, starting from AED 14, is roughly four to six cups. Order three or four origins from different continents, taste them side by side over a week, and you will learn more about your own palate than any tasting note can tell you. Once you find your origin, move up to 250g.

Storage matters more in the UAE than most places
Roasted coffee has four enemies: oxygen, light, moisture and heat. In Dubai, humidity and ambient temperature amplify all four. Keep beans in an opaque, airtight container away from the stove and never in the fridge, where condensation forms every time the container is opened. Our tea and coffee storage boxes are sized from 125g to 1kg for exactly this purpose, and the wider coffee accessories range covers grinders, scales and brewing gear.
Delivery across the UAE and GCC
Orders placed in Dubai before 2 PM ship the same day. Other emirates receive next-day delivery on orders placed before 1 PM. Delivery is free across the UAE on orders above AED 200. GCC customers in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman pay a flat AED 55, free above AED 500, with transit of three to seven days.
